Hypnotherapy is a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and its effects are enhanced by the application of Hypnosis, which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial changes.

What is psychotherapy?

Solution Focused Psychotherapy focuses on solutions for the future, rather than analysing problems of the past. We can acknowledge that you may have experienced painful and unpleasant events in your life, however, our focus is on accepting where you are in life right now, and moving forward to the life you want and truly deserve, without analysing and going over the traumas of your past.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a focused attention that you allow yourself to reach by listening to me and allowing my voice to guide you into an almost trance like state of relaxation.  This focus allows you to access your subconscious mind, where you can find solutions to your problems and bring real change, often quite quickly. This focused attention may appear similar to sleep in many ways, but you are fully aware of what’s going on.

Are there some people that cannot be hypnotised?

Anyone can be hypnotised if they chose to allow themselves to be. If you do not want to be hypnotised, you will not be.

How do you hypnotise somebody?

I use relaxing words to describe pictures and themes for you to think about and play relaxing music to guide you into a state of focused relaxation by listening and paying attention to what I say.

Could I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. It is not possible to get stuck in hypnosis as you are always aware of what is happening during sessions and can bring yourself back into full awareness at any point. Just like you can hear an alarm in the morning to wake you up, or the bark of a dog or baby crying. You are always aware of what is happening around you and can bring your focus external to you at any point.

How many sessions do I need?

Everybody is unique so there is no one size fits all. Solution Focus Hypnotherapy can work quite quickly and average sessions are listed in the treatment section, sometimes individuals need more sessions to consolidate learning and bring change to embedded patterns of behaviour / thought.

Is it safe to have hypnotherapy if you are pregnant?

Yes. It is safe to have hypnotherapy whilst pregnant.

What is the difference between Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis?

Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy is a combination of Solution Focused brief therapy (a talking therapy) and Hypnosis. Hypnosis is the act of guiding somebody into a state of trance.
